Girlguiding Wraxall Division celebrate the Platinum Jubilee!

by | Jun 8, 2022

Lots of Rainbow, Brownie and Guide units in Clevedon and Nailsea have been busy celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee the past few weeks.

6th Clevedon West Brownies have created their own stained glass window display of the queen and 3rd Clevedon Brownies, 13th Clevedon Brownies and 1st Clevedon East Rainbows came together for a joint jubilee picnic. The three Clevedon East units did a royal treasure hunt, decorated royal biscuits and crowns along with making union flag broches finishing off with bouncy castles! The units also played games such as giant jenga and giant dobble and 3rd Clevedon Brownies had a homemade royal piñata. 1st Clevedon West Guides got busy on a recycling project – the Guides designed pixelated logos using Hama beads which were then modified into smaller designs. They then collected plastic bottle tops which the Guides used an electric screwdriver to fix them to a display board. Their finshed project is at Kenn Road Methodist Church, where it will remain throughout the month of June. 1st Clevedon West Guides also celebrated by having a party with parents and leaders and sent cards to the Queen.

Nailsea District have also been busy celebrating. 1st Nailsea Rainbows and 3rd Nailsea Rainbows enjoyed an afternoon together making crowns, playing queeny games, re-enacting the coronation and knighting ceremonies, decorating crown biscuits and took home mosaic union jack coasters to make. 5th Nailsea Brownies had a Jubilee party making tiaras and having a traditional tea party whilst 10th Nailsea Brownies designed crowns using gems, stickers and felt pens. They also played games from parties in the 1950s such as musical chairs, pass the parcel and oranges and lemons then enjoyed party nibbles and drinks.
