Thinking Day Celebrated In Wraxall Division

Units across Wraxall Division have been busy celebrating Thinking Day – lots of food activities were involved. Everyone received a Thinking Day badge too.

1st Clevedon West Guides have been taking part in the WAGGGS Thinking Day Challenge. For Creativity Is Your Voice, the Guides explored environmental issues through creative media and their work was displayed at The Friary Church in Clevedon.

3rd Nailsea Rainbows found the World Centres on a map and then created postcards showing pictures of places around the world they wanted to visit.

5th Nailsea Brownies looked at Australia, China, Iceland and South Africa; each six was given a country and made a passport to complete with the Brownie uniform, flag, animals, food and interesting facts about the country. All the Brownies tasted prawn crackers and Icelandic skyr yogurt followed by playing the Dutch shoe game which was great fun and renewing their Promise.

1st Nailsea Guides, 6th Nailsea Guides and 1st Cleeve Guides enjoyed a morning together at Backwell Scout & Guide Hut celebrating Thinking Day together – they did flat bread and hummas, fabarge eggs, chocolate tasting, origami boxes and mosaic coasters. They loved getting together. In the weeks before meeting together, in their unit meetings they tried sweet potato cookies, made food tower buildings and banana muffins and played pasta bingo.

10th Nailsea Brownies also made banana muffins by making it in their sixes and then making up stories of someone (real or imaginary) who might receive their cakes.

Several units took part in the WTD Eat Your Way Around The World that Girlguiding South West Region organised – they travelled around the different regions of the world using food. 1st Nailsea Rainbows learnt about bananas and chocolate, making chocolate covered bananas and pasta bees. 10th Nailsea Brownies made melon keyrings from the African region and clay sweet dishes from the Arab region to represent those used in Eid Al-Fitr festivities. The clay sweet dishes were made using white model magic and coloured model magic was used to add designs. The Brownies also tried out cocoa beans – tasting 6 different types of chocolate and rating the taste and smell (their favourite were Cadbury white and Galaxy smooth). They also drew fruit and veg using their hands as templates, making them form the various shapes. 1st Nailsea Brownies will do their activities for this in March.
