Girls throughout the Division enjoyed a busy fun packed term

Rainbows, Brownies and Guides throughout Nailsea, Backwell, Long Ashton, Clevedon West and Clevedon East have been very busy this summer term enjoying a wide range of outdoor activites.

In Long Ashton, 1st Long Ashton Rainbows held a teddy bears picnic and completed the Camp Stage 1 badge. For this badge, they designed their own campsite, dressed up for different weathers, toasted marshmellows and built dens. Their adventures were topped off with making trails to follow using sticks and leaves and playing games.

Backwell’s 1st Cleeve Guides and 3rd Backwell Brownies went on a weekend residential to PGL Liddington for 2 nights. They did lots of fun activities there including a sports and games night with team games, ultimate frisbee, noughts and crosses and a big beanbag catch and run game. Other activities included canoeing, climbing Jacob’s ladder, a crate stacking challenge, problem solving activities, fencing, zipwire and of course a disco. They all had brilliant fun.

Nailsea units have been equally busy. 3rd Nailsea Rainbows completed the Communicate Stage 1 badge, which included learning a song in makaton, and visited Stockway North Nature Reserve where they did pond dipping and various activities exploring the reserve and nature. The Rainbow unit also made trails and completed a walking survey in the town. The highlight of the term for them, though, was taking part in Nailsea Carnival for the first time with the theme ‘Bee Kind’ dressing up as bees, butterflies and flowers – the unit came 1st place in the carnival winning Best Overall. 1st Nailsea Brownies also paid a visit to Stockway North Nature Reserve and enjoyed the activities there along with having a bubble evening and going canoeing and kayaking at Clevedon Marine Lake. 5th Nailsea Brownies visited Clevedon Marine Lake too and enjoyed an evening of canoeing and kayaking. The Brownie unit also made biscuits and played human hungry hippos to finish off the term along with enjoying an American themed meeting for the 4th July where they cooked s’mores and played American bingo. 1st Nailsea Guides have been busy too enjoying rounders at the park and paddleboarding at Clevedon Marine Lake.

The Rainbows, Brownies and Guides in Clevedon West all enjoyed a visit to Briarlands Activity Centre. 1st Clevedon West Guides and 6th Clevedon West Guides stayed there over the whole weekend whilst 1st Clevedon West Rainbows, 3rd Clevedon West Rainbows and 6th Clevedon West Brownies visited for a day. The theme was of ‘imagination’ where everyone went ‘down the rabbit hole’ to enter Wonderland. The girls enjoyed a mad hatters tea party and disney themed activities such as Aladdin’s magic carpet, Robin Hood’s archery lesson, returning Ariel to the sea and making a sock puppet show to music. The Rainbows and Brownies joined the Guides in a Wonderland Wide Game. 6th Clevedon West Brownies also joined Clevedon East Brownie units for an evening at Puxton Park.

Clevedon East have been very busy getting out and about. 3rd Clevedon Brownies, 10th Clevedon Brownies and 13th Clevedon Brownies joined with 6th Clevedon West Brownies for a fun evening at Puxton Park. 3rd Clevedon Brownies and 13th Clevedon Brownies also have enjoyed completed their Camp badge whilst 13th Clevedon Brownies also went to Clevedon Marine Lake for a wet night of paddleboarding and kayaking. 3rd Clevedon Brownies went to Mendip Outdoor Pursuits for archery, visited Yew Tree Farm and milk stand, went paddleboarding and enjoyed a wet boat cruise around Bristol Harbour. 1st Clevedon East Rainbows held a friendship night and made a giant friendship bracelet whilst 14th Clevedon Guides enjoyed some backwoods cooking for their Backwoods Cooking badge.

Lots of badges have been presented this term, including Theme Awards and Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards. Well done everyone!
